BJP National Spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi strongly condemned the Congress for attempting to disrupt parliamentary decorum by creating a “Shaheen Bagh-like situation” inside the Lok Sabha. Trivedi emphasized that the Parliament floor is designated for serious discussions, and any protests by MPs should adhere to established norms of conduct.
Trivedi expressed alarm at visuals showing women MPs forming a human wall with a banner and trying to advance towards the Treasury Benches. He questioned the inspiration behind this protest tactic, insinuating that it might have been borrowed from the Shaheen Bagh demonstrations.
The BJP leader accused the Congress of trying to create chaos in the Lok Sabha out of frustration and animosity towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, likening it to the prolonged Shaheen Bagh agitation. Trivedi urged the Opposition to express political disagreements without compromising the dignity of Parliament, emphasizing that replicating scenes from Shaheen Bagh inside the House was unacceptable.
Trivedi’s comments came amidst a standoff between the Treasury Benches and the Opposition, leading to a halt in parliamentary proceedings.
