Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor has written to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, requesting surprise inspections on main roads to expose the encroachment mafia allegedly supported by AAP MLAs in Chandni Chowk, Ballimaran, Matia Mahal, and Sadar Bazar Assembly constituencies.
Kapoor emphasized the need for the Chief Minister to personally evaluate the deteriorating state of these roads, address the increasing encroachment, and take prompt corrective measures. He highlighted that all four Assembly constituencies mentioned are represented by AAP MLAs, with a majority of AAP-affiliated Councillors in these areas contributing to the rise in encroachments.
According to Kapoor, despite reaching out to AAP representatives, no action has been taken, showing little regard for the maintenance of main roads. He accused AAP MLAs and Councillors of focusing on specific community-inhabited lanes, neglecting the development of main roads and other neighborhoods. This negligence has led to severe damage on major roads like S.P. Mukherjee Marg, Khari Baoli, and Sadar Bazar, with encroachments exceeding acceptable limits.
Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra recently chaired a review meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Delhi, initiated by the Election Commission. The meeting assessed the progress of the SIR exercise, which began on July 1, with the presence of key BJP officials and district representatives.
