The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has promised strict action following the alleged leak of a third-year Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) examination paper at Gujarat Ayurved University in Jamnagar. The leaked paper in question is from the Shalya Tantra-I examination, which took place on July 20. Concerns arose as questions that circulated on WhatsApp before the exam closely resembled those in the leaked paper.

The university has formed a committee to investigate the allegations, aiming to determine if there was an actual breach. BJP’s chief spokesperson, Anil Patel, emphasized the significance of this issue for students’ careers, urging that it should be handled without political bias. Patel highlighted the stringent law enacted by the Gujarat government in 2023, which imposes severe penalties of up to Rs 10 lakh to Rs one crore and imprisonment of three to 10 years for such incidents.

Dr. Patel stressed the need for collective efforts to identify and penalize those responsible for such breaches, emphasizing that the focus should solely be on the students’ interests. He called for a non-political approach towards the matter, emphasizing that it directly impacts students’ futures. The government has assured that strict measures will be taken against the individuals involved once the investigation concludes, potentially leading to disciplinary or legal actions.
