The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expressed satisfaction with the Supreme Court’s decision supporting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The ruling upheld the Election Commission of India’s authority to conduct the SIR exercise, emphasizing its role in safeguarding electoral integrity. BJP leader Rohan Gupta hailed the verdict as a clear endorsement of the SIR process, criticizing those who sought to politicize it.
BJP Bihar President Sanjay Saraogi emphasized the Election Commission’s prerogative to rectify voter list discrepancies through the SIR. Saraogi noted the necessity of updating the voter list to address issues like duplicate entries and inaccuracies. He accused Opposition parties of attempting to sow confusion before elections to deceive the public.
Bihar Minister Shrawon Kumar lauded the Supreme Court’s decision and accused the Opposition of spreading misinformation to mislead voters. Kumar highlighted the importance of conducting elections transparently and fairly to uphold democratic principles. Uttar Pradesh Minister Danish Azad Ansari echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the SIR’s role in enhancing electoral transparency and fairness.
Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar underscored the significance of the Supreme Court’s validation in reinforcing the Election Commission’s autonomy. Rajbhar criticized the Opposition for engaging in malpractices like bogus voting, which the SIR aims to prevent. BJP Telangana President N. Ramchander Rao welcomed the ruling, asserting that the campaign against the SIR by Opposition parties had failed.
Rao expressed confidence that the SIR exercise would contribute to conducting future elections with integrity and fairness.
