The BJP’s newly-elected National President, Nitin Nabin, cautioned bureaucrats in West Bengal, specifically District Magistrates (DMs) and Sub-Divisional officers, against unquestioningly obeying orders from Trinamool Congress leaders. Nabin, addressing a public gathering in Durgapur, urged the officials to not be swayed by the ruling party and emphasized their role as administrative personnel, advising them to prioritize the people’s interests over political influences. He also highlighted the impending change in government, urging Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to be vigilant as the BJP inches closer to leading West Bengal towards progress.
Nabin criticized the Chief Minister’s concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), attributing it to the Election Commission of India’s efforts to cleanse the voters’ list of illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh. He accused the Trinamool Congress of engaging in significant financial misconduct and assured that if the BJP assumes power in the state, all perpetrators of corruption will be held accountable. The BJP leader expressed confidence in replicating the party’s success in curbing lawlessness in other states within West Bengal and called upon grassroots-level workers to prepare for the upcoming changes.
Furthermore, Nabin condemned Mamata Banerjee’s remarks advising women to refrain from going out after 8 pm in light of a previous assault incident. He criticized the state government’s handling of criminal cases, particularly instances of rape and murder, and denounced the Chief Minister’s statement, questioning the imposition of restrictions on Bengali women’s mobility. Nabin emphasized the modernity and cultural significance of Bengali women, rejecting the notion that they should be confined to their homes.
