Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Working President A.P. Anilkumar criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for protesting against Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, alleging that it was a move to divert attention from the CPI(M). Anilkumar questioned the BJP’s choice to target Priyanka Gandhi instead of protesting against CPI(M) leaders involved in the Sabarimala gold smuggling case. He emphasized that the BJP’s actions seemed designed to protect the ruling party rather than seek justice.
Anilkumar highlighted the ongoing investigation supervised by the High Court, which has led to CPI(M) leaders being in jail. He pointed out the irony of the BJP’s protest and urged them to focus on the actual individuals implicated in the smuggling case. The KPCC leader also raised concerns about the BJP’s reluctance to confront key figures like the Kerala Chief Minister or the State’s Devaswom Minister in their protests.
The KPCC Working President accused the BJP of orchestrating a political drama to shield the CPI(M) and suggested a growing alignment between the two parties. Anilkumar linked the recent incident in the state Assembly involving objectionable remarks by the Education Minister against Sonia Gandhi to the BJP’s protest, indicating a deeper collaboration between the BJP and the CPI(M). He alleged that the BJP’s support for the CPI(M) during Congress-led protests demonstrated a concerning convergence of interests.
