BJP’s Sanjay Bhatia and Congress’ Karamvir Singh Boudh have submitted their nominations for the two Rajya Sabha seats in Haryana that became vacant after the terms of BJP members Kiran Choudhry and Ram Chander Jangra ended. The entry of BJP leader Satish Nandal as an Independent candidate has intensified the competition with three contenders vying for the two seats, making the election closely watched.
Sanjay Bhatia, accompanied by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and other senior party members, is known for his extensive experience in organizational politics and his association with Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. He has a background in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and has previously served as the state general secretary of the BJP.
In a move to strengthen its Dalit voter base, the Congress has nominated Karamvir Singh Boudh for his first electoral battle. Boudh, a former administrative officer at the state Civil Secretariat from Ambala, expressed gratitude to the Congress leadership after filing his nomination in the presence of 34 Congress MLAs, including former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Satish Nandal, hailing from Bohar village in Rohtak, filed his nomination as an Independent candidate with the support of Independent MLAs Savitri Jindal, Devendra Kadyan, and Rajesh Joon. Nandal, a former INLD leader and a political rival of Congress’ Bhupinder Singh Hooda, decided to contest following suggestions from fellow MLAs for an Independent candidate in the race.
