BJP leader Smriti Irani criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for allegedly intervening in an Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid with police personnel to protect the accused. Irani questioned Banerjee’s motives and urgency in reaching the site, suggesting a potential intent to shield those involved in the raid.
Irani further raised concerns about Banerjee’s actions, highlighting the unusual nature of a Chief Minister personally involving herself in such a situation. She accused the Trinamool Congress of politicizing investigative processes and questioned the Chief Minister’s understanding of constitutional procedures.
Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC also condemned Banerjee’s actions, labeling them as unprecedented. She emphasized the importance of allowing investigative agencies to function independently without interference from political figures. The confrontation between the Centre and the West Bengal government over the ED’s raids on I-PAC and its co-founder Pratik Jain has escalated, leading to a protest rally by Banerjee and accusations of corruption by the BJP.
