Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers and BJP supporters staged a protest at the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) headquarters in Ranchi, demanding the cancellation of the Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination due to alleged irregularities. The demonstration resulted in a clash between protesters and police as activists tried to breach barricades and approach the Commission’s office. BJP state president Aditya Sahu and BJYM state president Shashank Raj spearheaded the protest.

Thousands of party workers and exam aspirants from various parts of Jharkhand gathered at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium before marching towards the JPSC headquarters. Security measures were intensified by deploying a significant police presence, including Rapid Action Team personnel and senior officials, along with multiple layers of barricades, water cannons, and anti-riot units to manage any potential disturbances.

During the protest, confrontations arose as demonstrators attempted to break through barricades, leading to tense moments with security forces. Allegations were made by the protesters regarding suspicions surrounding the 14th Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination process, citing issues such as undisclosed cut-off marks, unsigned merit lists, and lack of access to OMR sheets for candidates. Demands were made for greater transparency in the examination procedures.

BJP leaders raised concerns about reported irregularities following recent CID raids on the JPSC headquarters and the examination-conducting agency, as well as the resignation of the Commission’s chairman. They called for the immediate annulment of the 14th JPSC preliminary examination and the organization of a fresh test, while also pressing for a CBI investigation. Addressing the crowd, BJP representatives accused the state government of endangering the prospects of numerous young aspirants and criticized the recurring examination controversies in Jharkhand, which have eroded trust in the Commission. They warned of escalating protests if prompt action was not taken by the government.

In response, the state government assured that complaints concerning the examination results were being treated seriously and had been referred to the CID for scrutiny. It pledged stringent action against any individuals found culpable.
