New Delhi, Aug 2 (IANS) Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Sunday encouraged participants at a blood donation camp in Rohini, and highlighted that selfless service reflects an unwavering commitment to the nation.
Addressed the gathering at the blood donation camp organised by the Lakshmi Taru Foundation at JMD Tent in Japanese Park’s of Rohini’s Sector-10, Speaker Gupta said, ”No factory can manufacture blood and no wealth can create it — its only source is humanity itself. That is why blood donation is the greatest service to nation.”
Organised as a tribute to the Indian Armed Forces under the motto “Ek Boond – Desh Ke Liye”, the event holds a special significance for the nation’s brave protectors, he added.
Speaker Gupta expressed gratitude to the military personnel and senior officers present at the event, noting that the blood donated today could one day save the life of a soldier defending the nation’s borders.
He emphasised that the Indian Army remains the paramount reason for the respect India commands globally, having consistently repelled every threat with courage and determination.
The drive was driven by social worker Vipin Garg, widely known as the “Blood Man of Delhi”.
His unwavering devotion inspired over 50 NGOs and volunteers from more than 20 states across India to come together and support this massive humanitarian effort.
To facilitate seamless collection and medical oversight, the drive coordinated with nine leading hospitals and featured dedicated donation centres tailored specifically for the Indian Army.
Aiming for an ambitious target of collecting 3,100 units of blood, the camp saw remarkable participation, with more than a thousand individuals donating blood within the initial hours alone. The energetic coordination ensured that donor management and logistics ran smoothly throughout the day.
Addressing common misconceptions surrounding blood donation, Speaker Gupta urged the public to overcome hesitation and embrace regular donation.
He clarified that donating blood does not weaken the body, as it naturally replenishes itself within a short period, and reminded the audience that medical science permits healthy individuals to donate safely every three months.
He stressed the urgent need for widespread awareness so that families in medical emergencies do not face hesitancy when lives are on the line.
