In a tragic incident, a man and his wife were discovered dead in their flat in Maheshtala, West Bengal. The bodies of Tanmoy Dey (52) and Ruma Rakshit (47) were found by the police after family members raised concerns and alerted the authorities. The couple, suspected to have committed suicide, were found unconscious in their rented flat, surrounded by empty boxes of sleeping pills.

Local sources revealed that the family members grew worried when they couldn’t reach the couple and rushed to their flat, only to find it locked from the inside. Upon breaking in, the police found the couple unresponsive on the bed. The husband and wife were rushed to Vidyasagar Hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival. The police are investigating the incident, focusing on the couple’s financial struggles as a possible motive for their extreme step.

The police are currently inquiring into the circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths and are awaiting the results of the post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause and time of death. Preliminary investigations suggest suicide as the likely cause, with authorities speaking to family members to understand the underlying reasons. The case is being treated as an unnatural death, and a thorough investigation is underway in South 24 Parganas district.
