Bollywood responded positively to the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The film industry praised the move, emphasizing the importance of democracy. Actress Kriti Sanon shared a message on Instagram highlighting the strength of democracy in listening to questioning voices.
Ishaan Khatter also expressed his support for the resignation on social media. He posted a picture with a message of ‘Inquilaab Zindabad’ (long live the revolution), celebrating the victory of democracy. Actor Ranvir Shorey commended PM Modi’s decision, calling it a strategic move.
Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down following widespread student protests and public outcry over exam irregularities, including the NEET-UG paper leak. The resignation followed a violent confrontation between protesters and the Delhi Police at Jantar Mantar on July 20. Pralhad Joshi has been appointed as the new Union Education Minister.
The clashes on July 20 sparked nationwide outrage, leading to massive support for the students at Jantar Mantar. The protests expanded from major cities to smaller towns, gaining momentum after activist Sonam Wangchuk was forcibly removed from the protest site. Wangchuk had been on a hunger strike demanding Pradhan’s resignation over exam discrepancies.
