Anahat Singh created history by becoming the first Indian to win the World Junior Squash Championship held in Nigara-on-the-Lake, Canada. She clinched the women’s title by defeating Egyptian player Ruqayya Salem in the final with a score of 11-3, 11-7, 11-9. This victory marked a significant milestone in Anahat’s career, as she broke a 15-year winning streak of Egyptian players in the championship.

Anahat Singh’s triumph also marked the first time a non-Egyptian player has won the World Junior Squash Championship title since Amanda Sobhy in 2010. In a remarkable journey, Anahat reached the final by defeating Egypt’s Barb Sameh in the semifinals. Her exceptional performance throughout the tournament showcased her determination and skill on the court.

In the men’s competition, Egypt’s top seed Mohamad Zakaria continued his quest for a third World Junior title by securing a place in the final. Zakaria’s victory over compatriot Selfeldin Refaay in straight games propelled him to his fourth consecutive final appearance. His upcoming final match will be against fellow Egyptian player Adam Hawal, who advanced to the final after Marwan Assal retired due to injury during their semifinal match.
