Four police officers sustained injuries when a bomb exploded near their vehicle in the Dasht area of Mastung district in Balochistan, Pakistan. The incident occurred as the police vehicle, transporting prisoners from Dasht court to Mastung jail, passed by the Mian Ghandi Link Road near Pir Wali. The explosion caused damage to the vehicle.
According to SHO Akhtar Muhammad, the injured police personnel received medical treatment at the scene of the blast. Following the incident, security forces swiftly arrived at the location, sealed off the area, and initiated a search operation. This attack is part of a series targeting law enforcement officers in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In a separate incident on June 14, a suicide attack at a police check post near the Punjab-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border resulted in the deaths of two police officers and injuries to six others. The attack, carried out by unidentified assailants driving an explosives-laden vehicle into the check post’s main gate, caused extensive damage. District Police Officer Muhammad Sadiq Baloch confirmed the casualties and the destruction of the check post structure.
The security situation in Pakistan has worsened, as reported by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), with a surge in militant activities during May. The monthly security assessment highlighted a significant increase in militant attacks, casualties, suicide bombings, and kidnappings, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The rise in violence underscores the persistent security challenges faced by the country.
