Eighteen schools in Chandigarh received bomb-threat emails, leading to panic among the police and local administration. Both public and private schools got the emails in the morning, prompting a quick response from the police control room. The bomb detection team, operations cell, and local police conducted searches in all school premises but found no suspicious objects.
The police advised schools to report any threatening emails promptly to ensure proper action following established protocols. Schools were cautioned against declaring holidays without verified reasons to prevent unnecessary panic. The threatening emails contained alarming content, mentioning a potential bomb blast and making controversial statements about Chandigarh and the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to Dera Ballan in Punjab.
An investigation has been initiated by the police to track the source of the emails and identify the culprits. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible for the threatening emails. While schools remained closed for the day, normalcy gradually returned as parents picked up their children. Several private schools, a public school, and government schools were among those that received the threatening emails.
