Panic struck the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly as a bomb threat via email led to an urgent evacuation and heightened security measures. The email warned of five “Silicon 100-base RDX” bombs set to detonate at noon inside the Assembly complex. Authorities were alerted to the threat, emphasizing the need for immediate evacuation of VIPs due to the seriousness of the situation.
A swift response was initiated upon receiving the alert, with teams from various security units like the state police, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Fire Department, and SDRF swiftly mobilizing to the scene. The entire Assembly premises were cleared as a precautionary measure, followed by a comprehensive search operation throughout the building.
Security agencies meticulously combed through every section of the Assembly, while fire tenders and emergency services remained on standby for any contingencies. Cyber teams are concurrently investigating the email’s source, analyzing technical details and potential connections, marking the third such threat to the Assembly in recent times.
The previous bomb threats, though similar in nature, did not yield any explosives or suspicious items during searches. Nevertheless, the recurrence of these incidents has heightened concerns among security agencies, leading to increased vigilance and readiness protocols. The timing of the threat coinciding with the visit of BJP National President Nitin Nabin to Rajasthan has further amplified security measures, despite no direct link being established.
Authorities have advised the public to stay calm, ensuring that all essential safety measures are being implemented. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the individuals responsible for the threat and ascertain whether it was a hoax or part of a broader security issue.
