Panic ensued at the Samastipur court premises in Bihar following a bomb threat sent to the District Judge’s official email. Security forces, including the District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police, and a large police contingent, swiftly responded by evacuating the campus and conducting a thorough search operation using metal detectors and a dog squad. Despite the chaos, no suspicious or explosive materials have been found yet, prompting a police investigation to identify the email sender.
Security concerns heightened as several courts in Bihar, such as Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, and Siwan, also received similar bomb threats on the same day. These threats led to the evacuation of court premises at multiple locations and elevated security measures across the state. In a related incident, a suspicious youth carrying a pistol was apprehended during routine checks at the Patna Civil Court, with authorities probing any potential links to the threatening emails or a broader conspiracy.
Earlier, the Muzaffarpur court received a bomb threat via email, resulting in the evacuation of all courtrooms and offices as a precautionary measure. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed under the City SP’s leadership, with bomb disposal squads, dog squads, and expert teams conducting a thorough search in coordination with the ATS and police headquarters. Similar alerts were reported from the Bhagalpur and Siwan Civil Courts, leading to the suspension of court proceedings and intensified search operations.
Authorities have urged calm among lawyers and the public, emphasizing the need to avoid spreading rumors. Security measures have been bolstered at court complexes in various districts, with the cyber cell actively tracing the source of the threatening emails. Police are investigating potential connections between the incidents to determine if they are part of an organized conspiracy. Officials have assured that the situation is under control while emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach towards compromising security.
