The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) recognized Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited (BRPNNL) officials for their vital role in repairing the damaged Vikramshila Setu in Bhagalpur district. A BRPNNL team, led by Managing Director Jitendra Kumar, was commended by Additional Director General Jitendra Prasad, VSM, at the BRO headquarters in Guwahati. The collapse of a span on the Vikramshila Setu on May 4 disrupted traffic between North and South Bihar, impacting connectivity to the Seemanchal region.
The Ministry of Defence assigned the restoration work to the BRO following a request from the Bihar government. Additional Director General Jitendra Prasad oversaw a specialized engineering team led by Superintending Engineer (Civil) Bipin Kumar Chand. By launching four Bailey Bridges under Chief Engineer (Project) Swastik Brigadier Amit Sakhre’s supervision, the team successfully reopened the bridge for traffic on June 7. BRPNNL provided crucial logistical support and technical coordination throughout the operation, ensuring the project’s timely completion.
BRPNNL officials, including Managing Director Jitendra Kumar and Superintending Engineer Shashi Bhushan Singh, were honored for their contributions during the ceremony. Chief Engineer Bipin Kumar Chand shared insights on the engineering challenges faced and innovative techniques employed during the restoration. Jitendra Prasad lauded the collaboration between the BRO and Bihar government, emphasizing the restoration’s significance in maintaining seamless connectivity and critical infrastructure for the public.
