The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in Arunachal Pradesh efficiently repaired the vital Kimin-Potin road within 36 hours following heavy rains and landslides. The road suffered extensive damage due to landslides and floods, disrupting transportation and access to essential services in the region. This closure impacted the movement of goods, emergency teams, and healthcare facilities like the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences.
The BRO’s prompt action became crucial as the National Highway-13 was also impassable due to flood damage, affecting relief efforts. In response to the civil administration’s request, the BRO’s 756 Border Roads Task Force mobilized personnel and machinery to restore the road. Despite challenging conditions, including continuous rainfall and landslides, the BRO personnel worked tirelessly to clear debris and reconstruct the road.
The road was reopened for traffic within 36 hours, facilitating the smooth movement of relief materials and emergency services. Additionally, the BRO is upgrading the Kimin-Potin road to enhance its reliability and capacity. This swift restoration highlights the BRO’s commitment to ensuring connectivity in challenging terrains and supporting communities during emergencies.
