The 3rd BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meeting in Nagpur, Maharashtra, concluded with member countries unanimously adopting a joint ministerial declaration for cooperation on sustainable transport and logistics. Held under India’s BRICS Chairship in 2026, the meeting focused on advancing collaboration on transport infrastructure and sustainable mobility. Preceding this, the 3rd BRICS Transport Working Group Senior Officials’ Meeting finalized the agenda and draft declaration.
The adopted declaration lays out a common framework for cooperation in various areas, including circularity in infrastructure, Sustainable Aviation Fuel, transport decarbonisation, urban mobility hubs, logistics, and the BRICS Railway Research Network. It reflects the collective commitment of BRICS nations to deepen cooperation through consensus and mutual participation. The principles of mutual respect, equality, and consensus guided the deliberations.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari expressed gratitude to all participating delegations for their support in achieving a successful outcome at the ministerial meeting. India appreciated the engagement and contributions of all BRICS member countries, emphasizing their collective efforts in ensuring the meeting’s success. India also reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating a smooth transition of the agreed initiatives to the next BRICS Chair.
The four-day program brought together transport ministers, senior officials, and technical experts from BRICS member countries. In addition to the official meetings, the program included bilateral engagements and cultural presentations showcasing the diversity of BRICS nations. This provided an opportunity to strengthen institutional cooperation, people-to-people ties, and mutual understanding among participating delegations.
