The 13th BRICS Urbanisation Forum wrapped up in New Delhi, focusing on inclusive, resilient, and people-centered urban development. Member nations agreed on a ministerial declaration stressing the need for cities that offer equitable access to services, especially for marginalized groups. The forum’s outcomes are set to guide BRICS countries in building sustainable, inclusive, and well-governed cities.
To further the forum’s insights, member nations endorsed India’s proposal for a ‘BRICS Urban Research and Knowledge Network’. This network aims to facilitate applied urban research, knowledge exchange, and peer-to-peer learning. Hosted under India’s BRICS Chairship in 2026, the two-day event convened Ministers and urban experts to discuss ‘Cities for People: BRICS Cooperation for Inclusive and Resilient Urban Futures’.
Union Minister Manohar Lal inaugurated the forum, highlighting the significance of inclusive urban development and climate-resilient infrastructure. He also unveiled ‘India’s Urban Transformation: Stories of Change’, showcasing urban practices across key areas. The event featured high-level discussions, field visits, and bilateral meetings to foster cooperation and knowledge sharing among BRICS nations.
