The BRICS Women Working Group Meeting in Kochi is set to establish a strong base for the upcoming BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting on July 8-9. India, as the current BRICS Chair, will host the BRICS Women Working Group Meeting in Kochi, Kerala, on July 6-7. Government officials from BRICS Member Countries will gather to discuss women’s empowerment and development during the meeting.
The meeting will focus on key issues related to women’s empowerment and development, aiming to promote cooperation among the BRICS nations. It will offer a platform for Member Countries to reach agreements that support women-led development. BRICS, consisting of 11 countries, plays a significant role in global GDP, representing about 40% of it.
With nearly half of the global population, BRICS recognizes the crucial role of women in various sectors. The Women Track within BRICS 2026 is essential for political, social, and economic progress. The Working Group Meeting follows virtual preparatory meetings to facilitate discussions among Member Countries before the Kochi meetings.
Under India’s BRICS Chairship theme, the Women Track focuses on four priority areas: women in governance and leadership, digital and financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and skill development, and women’s involvement in climate action and food security. The recent preparatory meetings paved the way for the BRICS Women Working Group Meeting and the BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting scheduled for July 6-9.
