Charalampos Kostoulas scored a stunning overhead kick in stoppage time, securing a 1-1 draw for Brighton & Hove Albion against AFC Bournemouth. Despite Marcus Tavernier’s penalty goal in the 32nd minute, Bournemouth’s lead was nullified by Kostoulas’ acrobatic effort.

Brighton dominated possession in the second half but struggled to challenge Bournemouth’s goalkeeper until Kostoulas’ game-changing goal. Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler expressed disappointment in not securing a win but praised his team’s improved performance in the second half.

Brighton, after a winless December, maintained their unbeaten streak in 2026, enhancing their chances for European qualification. Bournemouth’s coach, Andoni Iraola, lamented the missed opportunity for three points, acknowledging Kostoulas’ remarkable goal that denied them a victory.
