A convoy of BRS leaders, headed by party working president K. T. Rama Rao, faced police attempts to halt them on their way to Kannepalli Pump House in Kaleshwaram. The tension escalated as police tried to stop the convoy at various points, leading to the removal of barricades by the BRS leaders to proceed towards their destination.

The visit to Kannepalli Pump House, a part of the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project initiated by the previous BRS government, aimed to draw attention to the alleged wastage of Godavari River water by the current Congress government. Despite police intervention and objections citing lack of permission for a large convoy, the BRS leaders continued their journey after a brief argument.

K.T. Rama Rao expressed concerns over the wastage of 1 lakh cusecs of Godavari water downstream, emphasizing the need for utilizing it for irrigation purposes. He criticized the government for leaving reservoirs upstream dry, affecting farmers’ ability to sow seeds and highlighting the potential of the Kaleshwaram project to transform Telangana’s agricultural landscape.
