After BSF Constable Mithun Mandal was killed in suspected militant firing in Manipur’s Ukhrul district, his body was sent to his hometown in West Bengal. Mandal suffered a fatal bullet wound to his left shoulder during a clash between two groups while on duty. Despite immediate medical attention, he was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
A wreath-laying ceremony was held at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal to honor Mandal, attended by senior officials and around 200 personnel. The BSF praised Mandal’s bravery and dedication to duty, emphasizing his contribution to the force’s values.
The mortal remains of the constable were later transported to his ancestral village in West Bengal. The BSF expressed solidarity with Mandal’s family during this difficult time, highlighting his sacrifice for peace and security in the region. Manipur’s Chief Minister and other officials paid their respects to the fallen soldier, acknowledging his service to the nation and offering condolences to his loved ones.
