AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami criticized the DMK during an election campaign rally in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. He emphasized his party’s efforts on the Cauvery issue and accused the ruling party of neglecting farmers’ interests. Palaniswami praised Thanjavur’s agricultural significance and highlighted the AIADMK government’s actions in securing a favorable verdict on the Cauvery water dispute.

Palaniswami credited former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa for initiating the Thanjavur Smart City project. He questioned the DMK’s alliance politics, particularly its ties with the BJP. Palaniswami accused the DMK of failing to bring meaningful development projects to Thanjavur during its time in the Union government. He also criticized Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for allegedly jeopardizing farmers’ livelihoods with hydrocarbon projects in the delta region.

The AIADMK leader accused the DMK of corruption and claimed that law and order had deteriorated under its rule. Palaniswami stressed the importance of Centre-State cooperation for Tamil Nadu’s development. He urged voters in the delta region to support the AIADMK, positioning it as the party dedicated to safeguarding farmers’ welfare and ensuring sustainable development.
