A bulldozer was used to demolish ‘Aranyer Kule,’ the cafe belonging to Imran Molla, son of former Trinamool Congress MLA Saokat Molla. The cafe, built illegally on the banks of Matla River in South 24 Parganas district near Sundarbans, faced the demolition on Thursday morning. Imran Molla had been served a notice by the South 24 Parganas district administration on June 22 to dismantle the cafe.

The cafe, situated in the Moukhali area under Jibantala police station, was targeted for demolition after Imran Molla ignored the initial notice. The authorities had warned that if the cafe was not removed within seven days, a bulldozer would be employed for the task. The demolition process, overseen by a large contingent of police and administration officials, proceeded peacefully as per the authorities.

Imran Molla, allegedly benefiting from his father’s political influence, had constructed the controversial cafe during his father’s tenure as a Trinamool MLA. Following Saokat Molla’s defeat in the recent Assembly elections, legal actions were initiated against him, with the cafe demolition being one of the repercussions. Saokat Molla himself has been arrested by the National Investigation Agency in connection with the Bhangar bomb blast case.

The administration had previously demanded Imran Molla to present all legal documents related to the land by a specified date, which he failed to do. Consequently, the authorities proceeded with the demolition process in adherence to the law. Imran Molla’s lawyer, present during the proceedings, could not furnish the required legal documents, leading to the enforcement of the demolition order.
