History will be created at Atlanta Stadium as Cabo Verde participates in their first-ever FIFA World Cup match against reigning European champions Spain. This encounter marks the debut meeting between the two teams at the senior international level. Cabo Verde, with a small population, ranks as the third least populous nation to qualify for the tournament, following Curacao and Iceland.

Spain, a seasoned participant in the World Cup, is gearing up for their 17th appearance in the prestigious event. Having exited at the Round of 16 stage in the previous edition in Qatar, the 2020 winners are determined to make a strong comeback. Regarded as one of the favorites, Spain aims to clinch the coveted trophy this time.
