Ajay Mandal’s impressive performance led Canara Bank to a narrow three-run victory over DY Patil Red in the semifinal of the 20th DY Patil T20 Cup. Mandal’s crucial contributions ensured Canara Bank’s spot in the final against Mumbai Customs, who secured a five-wicket win over DY Patil Blue.
Mandal played a pivotal role for Canara Bank, scoring 46 runs as they set a target of 182 runs in 20 overs. Despite DY Patil Red’s Naman Tiwari taking a hat-trick in the final over, dismissing key players, Canara Bank held on for the win.
In the chase, DY Patil Red seemed on track at 132/3, but a collapse following the dismissal of skipper Krunal Pandya saw them fall short by three runs. Canara Bank’s bowling trio of Mandal, Kaushal, and Achar shone, restricting DY Patil Red’s chase effectively.
At the DY Patil University Ground, Mumbai Customs rode on Chinmay Sutar’s explosive 74 off 44 balls, including six fours and five sixes, to comfortably chase down DY Patil Blue’s 156/9 in just 15.3 overs. Mumbai Customs, led by Sutar’s heroics, will now face Canara Bank in the final showdown.
