A case has been filed in Saharanpur against Samajwadi Party MP Iqra Hasan for a protest outside the DIG office on May 19. The FIR accuses Hasan and her supporters of causing a disturbance and blocking a road during a demonstration related to the Sonu Kashyap murder case. Seven named individuals and 25 unidentified people have also been booked under various legal sections.
Police officials stated that Hasan and her supporters blocked the main road outside the DIG office, causing significant traffic disruption. The protest allegedly violated prohibitory orders and hindered government operations. Legal action was initiated after a review of the incident, with authorities examining viral videos and CCTV footage to identify the unidentified accused individuals.
The incident has sparked political tensions in the district, with Samajwadi Party workers expressing displeasure over the FIR against Hasan and her supporters. The protest was related to the murder case of Monu Kashyap, a resident of Dashale village in Shamli district, who was allegedly killed on April 21. Hasan had visited the DIG office with the victim’s family to demand justice in the case.
