The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has approved the release of director Mahesh Narayanan’s much-anticipated thriller ‘Patriot’, starring Malayalam cinema icons Mammootty and Mohanlal, with a U/A 16+ certificate. Earlier rumors about the Censor Board requesting scene and name alterations in the film have been dispelled, with the filmmakers confirming the CBFC’s clearance for the movie. Actor Mammootty confirmed the news on social media, announcing that ‘#Patriot’ is set to hit screens worldwide from May 1, 2026.
The team behind ‘Patriot’ has verified that both Mammootty and Mohanlal have finished dubbing for their roles in the movie. Recently, a Behind The Scenes (BTS) video was released, showcasing footage from the film’s shoot in Sri Lanka. Actor Mohanlal shared the BTS video on social media, revealing that ‘#Patriot’ is scheduled for a global release on April 23, 2026.
The BTS video displayed scenes from an airbase with helicopters, planes, and fighter aircraft, featuring glimpses of Mohanlal and Mammootty together after 18 years. Notably, the video also revealed Fahaadh Faasil in a fighter aircraft cockpit, hinting at his villainous role in the film. ‘Patriot’ is slated to premiere worldwide on May 1 this year, following the completion of filming on January 4.
The star-studded cast of ‘Patriot’ includes Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Rajeev Menon, and Revathy alongside the two veteran Malayalam actors.
