In connection with the NEET UG 2026 exam scandal, the CBI has apprehended a senior Botany teacher appointed by the NTA in Pune. The teacher, Manisha Gurunath Mandhare, is suspected to be involved in leaking the Biology question paper. She is the second teacher from Pune to be arrested after interrogation, following Chemistry professor P.V. Kulkarini, according to the CBI.
Mandhare, appointed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) as an expert for the NEET-UG 2026 Examination, had full access to the Biology question paper, as stated by the CBI. She allegedly collaborated with a Pune consultant, Manisha Wagmare, who was arrested earlier, to coach NEET candidates by revealing Biology questions and having them note them down during special classes at her residence.
The CBI mentioned that many of these disclosed questions matched those in the actual NEET-UG 2026 exam paper held on May 3, which was subsequently canceled. The agency conducted searches at six locations nationwide in the past 24 hours, seizing incriminating documents, laptops, bank statements, and mobile phones for further analysis.
