The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested five individuals in connection with the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and irregularities during examinations. The arrests were made following raids conducted in various locations across the country. Among the arrested are Shubham Khairnar from Nashik, Mangilal Biwal, Vikas Biwal, and Dinesh Biwal from Jaipur, and Yash Yadav from Gurugram.
The CBI initiated its investigation after receiving a complaint from the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education regarding suspected irregularities and the possible leak of the NEET-UG 2026 question paper. The agency registered a case under different sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
As part of the probe, the CBI conducted searches at multiple locations based on leads obtained during the investigation. Officials reported the seizure of incriminating materials, including electronic devices and mobile phones, during the raids. The agency is collaborating with the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) in the ongoing investigation.
The CBI affirmed its commitment to conducting a thorough and impartial investigation into the alleged paper leak, utilizing technical and forensic analyses to pursue all leads. Further arrests and searches are anticipated as the investigation progresses. The controversy arose after claims emerged that the NEET-UG 2026 paper had been leaked before the examination held on May 3, affecting over 22 lakh aspirants nationwide.
