The CBI detained a proclaimed offender, Rohan Sk alias Kismot Sk, in Kolkata regarding the 2022 Bogtui carnage where 10 individuals, mostly women and children, were fatally burned in West Bengal’s Birbhum district. Rohan Sk had been on the run since the FIR was filed and never cooperated with the investigation. The CBI took over the case following a Calcutta High Court order and charged 27 individuals, including Rohan Sk, in connection with the incident.
The accused, Rohan Sk, was declared a Proclaimed Offender by the Competent Court in Rampurhat as he evaded trial. The CBI will present him before the court in Purba Bardhaman. The Bogtui carnage case, stemming from violence in Bogtui village on March 21, 2022, is believed to be politically motivated, resulting in the tragic deaths of 10 individuals.
In a separate development, the CBI captured two proclaimed offenders, Brijbhushan Prasad and Kartar Singh, linked to a significant bank fraud case involving over Rs 1.25 crore from the State Bank of India. The arrests, made in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, mark progress in a long-pending investigation initiated in 2005 over alleged misappropriation from SBI’s Dhanbad branch.
