The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has concluded its investigation into the NEET (UG) 2024 question paper theft case, stating that there is no evidence linking Sanjeev Kumar, also known as Sanjeev Mukhiya, to the crime. Despite being a named accused in the FIR, the CBI did not find any proof of his involvement and did not file any charges against him.
Sanjeev Mukhiya, who was initially absconding and later arrested by the Bihar Police for other cases, was taken into police custody by the CBI for questioning. However, he was released on bail as no connection to the NEET-UG 2024 case was established during the investigation.
The CBI clarified that although Mukhiya obtained bail in the NEET-UG 2024 case, he remains in judicial custody due to his involvement in other cases under investigation by the Bihar Police. The agency emphasized that it has identified all individuals involved in the paper theft and ensured that they face legal consequences.
The investigation, which began with Bihar Police registering the case, was later taken over by the CBI. The agency has filed multiple charge sheets against 45 accused individuals in connection with the theft of the NEET (UG) 2024 examination question paper. The CBI also debunked claims of deliberately omitting Mukhiya from the case, stating that such assertions are factually incorrect.
