The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) reported that its re-evaluation and verification portal encountered multiple cyberattack attempts on the initial day of the application process. Despite being targeted, the platform remained fully operational. The portal, launched on June 2, functioned smoothly from 7 a.m. onwards, as per CBSE.
In a statement, CBSE disclosed that the platform faced a large-scale denial-of-service (DoS) attack, receiving around 1.5 million hits in just two minutes. Moreover, there were over one lakh unauthorized attempts to access files on the system. The board mentioned that while numerous students accessed the portal, malicious actors tried to disrupt services through cyberattacks.
Despite the challenges, the portal continued to operate without issues. By 3 p.m., more than 16,000 students had successfully submitted their applications, CBSE confirmed. The board also stated that it had made improvements to the platform based on student feedback, such as extending session time limits for enhanced convenience.
CBSE emphasized its commitment to supporting students and ensuring a smooth process. The portal will be open until midnight on June 6 for eligible students to apply for verification and re-evaluation of discrepancies in their scanned answer sheets. Only students with scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets can avail of these services.
As part of the updated process, students need to log in via their CBSE accounts and complete Aadhaar authentication before accessing the portal. Aadhaar verification has been introduced for enhanced security and identity verification purposes, as per the board’s announcement.
