The Centre announced that over 1.72 crore LPG cylinders were distributed nationwide in the past four days, surpassing the 1.66 crore bookings. This information was disclosed during a media briefing at the National Media Centre, where officials from the Ministries of Petroleum and Natural Gas and External Affairs discussed fuel availability and stability measures. The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas stated, “About 1.72 Crore LPG cylinders were delivered against bookings of around 1.66 Crore LPG cylinders in the last 4 days.”
The government highlighted ongoing challenges in domestic LPG supply due to geopolitical tensions but assured that household consumers are receiving priority to prevent disruptions. Notably, there have been no reports of dry-outs at LPG distributorships. The government also emphasized the increasing adoption of digital booking and delivery authentication systems. Online LPG cylinder bookings reached nearly 99% industry-wide, and Delivery Authentication Code (DAC)-based deliveries rose to approximately 95%.
Regarding commercial LPG, allocations have risen to nearly 70% of pre-crisis levels, with an additional 10% reform-linked allocation. Over the recent four days, approximately 24,557 metric tonnes of commercial LPG were sold nationwide, alongside nearly 942 metric tonnes of Auto LPG by PSU oil marketing companies. Since May 1, 2026, a total of 1,56,898 metric tonnes of commercial LPG have been sold. Efforts to promote the use of 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders were also highlighted, with around 1.96 lakh 5 kg FTL cylinders sold in the past four days.
