The Centre has dismissed the Opposition’s criticism of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s remarks in Parliament regarding Operation Sindoor, terming them as misleading. The Defence Ministry refuted allegations of misrepresentation, stating that selective quoting of the Minister’s speech aimed to distort the facts. The controversy arose after the naming of six soldiers who lost their lives in Operation Sindoor at the National War Memorial.
The Congress seized on the opportunity to criticize the Centre, accusing the Defence Minister of downplaying the soldiers’ sacrifice. Congress leader Pawan Khera questioned the Minister’s awareness of the soldiers’ martyrdom during his parliamentary address. Another Congress leader, Manish Tewari, raised doubts about the Minister’s knowledge of the facts surrounding the operation. The Centre defended the Minister’s statement, clarifying that it was in response to false claims circulating at the time.
Rejecting the Opposition’s narrative as misleading, the Defence Ministry emphasized the Minister’s accurate account of Operation Sindoor’s success. The Ministry highlighted the operation’s precision and military professionalism, countering claims of misinformation. The Minister’s statement in Parliament was portrayed as a proud depiction of the operation’s achievements, aiming to set the record straight amidst the controversy.
