Amandeep Johl, the CEO of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), held discussions with Subodh Kumar Singh, IAS, the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, regarding enhancing golf opportunities in the state. The focus was on establishing international-standard golf courses in Naya Raipur and potentially hosting a top-tier tournament on the DP World Tour to elevate the region’s global golfing presence.

The meeting, attended by Shri Ankit Anand, IAS, Chairman of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority (NRDA), and Shri Rajat Kumar, IAS, Secretary of Industries and Commerce, Government of Chhattisgarh, emphasized the long-term vision of developing golf infrastructure and fostering the sport’s ecosystem in Chhattisgarh. Discussions revolved around creating top-notch golf facilities, promoting sports tourism, encouraging youth involvement, and positioning the state as a burgeoning hub for golf and related economic activities.

Notably, the successful SECL Chhattisgarh Open underscored Nava Raipur’s growing significance as a key venue on the Indian professional golf circuit, signaling the sport’s expansion beyond traditional hubs. The dialogue also explored opportunities for establishing new golf courses and associated infrastructure in the state to boost sports tourism, create jobs, support the hospitality sector, and position Chhattisgarh as a prospective destination for professional golf events.

Amandeep Johl briefed officials on the rising stature of professional golf in India, the expansion of the DP World PGTI calendar, and the diverse opportunities golf presents in areas like tourism, employment, hospitality, and international sports engagement. The meeting further delved into potential collaborations between the state government and DP World PGTI to drive golf development initiatives and future events in Chhattisgarh.
