Chandigarh’s Nandini Sharma, a cricketer from the Union Territory Cricket Association (UTCA), has been chosen to represent the Indian Women’s team at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, in September. The Indian team, as the reigning champions, secured gold in the previous Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8, 2023.
Nandini’s exceptional performances in various domestic and national competitions have led to her selection. She recently participated in the ACC Rising Star Women’s Asia Cup as part of India A, gaining valuable international exposure. Nandini has consistently excelled in major domestic tournaments, representing both Punjab and UTCA in BCCI-organized events at different levels.
Her participation in the Women’s Premier League with Delhi Capitals Women showcased her talent against top cricketers globally. This success earned her a spot in the current World Cup T20 Indian squad for England. UTCA President Saraansh Tandon expressed pride in Nandini’s selection, attributing it to her hard work, discipline, and consistent performance over the years. He believes she will bring value to the Indian team and serve as an inspiration to budding cricketers in the region.
