Chandigarh’s Simran and Sonia emerged victorious in the women’s Ganda double final at the Khelo India Beach Games 2026, defeating local favorites Anushka Singh and Anshu Kumari. Manipur secured their first gold of the event in the men’s category on Day 3 of the competition.
The Khelo India Beach Games 2026, organized by the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, is being overseen by the Sports Authority of India and national sports federations. This year’s event features over 1100 participants competing in eight sports, with volleyball, soccer, sepaktakraw, kabaddi, pencak silat, open water swimming, mallakhamb, and tug-of-war on the roster.
Simran and Sonia’s victory dashed the hopes of the hosts, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, who were aiming to increase their gold medal count. Despite a knee injury, Simran, a Punjab Police employee, teamed up with Sonia to secure the gold in a hard-fought final against Anushka and Anshu. In the men’s event, Premchandra Yengkhom and Wahengbam Sudhir Meetei clinched the title by defeating Tamil Nadu’s Bose Raja Guru and Selvakumar.
After three days of competition, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu lead the medal tally with one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal. Chandigarh, Manipur, and West Bengal have also secured one gold each, showcasing a competitive landscape at the games.
