Charges have been framed against all four accused in the gang rape case of a female student at South Calcutta Law College in Kasba. The trial is set to begin on January 27, with a total of 83 witnesses scheduled to testify in the case.

The main accused, a former student and ex-leader of Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP), was also a temporary employee of the college during the incident. The victim had lodged complaints against two other students and a college security guard, leading to the arrest of all four individuals by the police.

During the investigation, Kolkata Police collected blood samples from both the main accused and the victim, which were subjected to DNA testing at a forensic laboratory. The results confirmed the presence of both individuals at the crime scene, supporting the case against the accused.

The DNA report from the victim’s clothing matched the main accused’s blood sample, indicating his involvement in the crime. Additionally, evidence revealed that the main accused had sustained injuries during the rape, further strengthening the case against him and the other accused.

Charges have been filed against the four individuals under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including gang rape, wrongful confinement, kidnapping, assault, and destruction of evidence. The Alipore court is expected to deliver its verdict after the testimonies of all 83 witnesses are heard later this month.
