Former champion Chelsea has officially separated from manager Enzo Maresca due to a lackluster performance in the Premier League 2025-26 season. The West London club, with just one win in their last seven matches, recently drew 2-2 with the Cherries at Stamford Bridge. Currently fifth in the Premier League standings with 30 points, Chelsea is set to play against Manchester City this Sunday. Additionally, the club holds the 13th position in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Chelsea Football Club announced the departure of Head Coach Enzo Maresca, acknowledging his success in leading the team to victory in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Despite these accomplishments, the decision was made to part ways with Maresca to enhance the team’s chances of achieving key objectives in various competitions, including securing Champions League football. The club expressed gratitude for his contributions and wished him success in his future endeavors.
Enzo Maresca took on the role of Chelsea manager in July 2024, overseeing 92 matches during his tenure. With an impressive record of 55 wins, Maresca secured his first trophy as Chelsea manager by clinching the UEFA Conference League title in May 2025. Subsequently, he guided the team to victory in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in July 2025, defeating Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final. Despite these initial successes, a decline in performance during the second year of his tenure strained his relationship with fans and the Chelsea board, leading to his premature departure, three years before his contract was set to expire in 2029.
