Chelsea has finalized the acquisition of Morgan Rogers, a prominent English player, from Aston Villa. Rogers, aged 23, has inked a seven-year contract with Chelsea, committing to stay at Stamford Bridge until 2033. The midfielder’s transfer fee is a staggering 117 million pounds, establishing him as the most expensive British player to date. This deal surpasses the previous record set by Elliot Anderson’s move to Manchester City for 116 million pounds earlier this summer.

Rogers expressed his enthusiasm about joining Chelsea, citing the club as the biggest in London and one he has admired since childhood. He eagerly anticipates working with the new manager, the talented squad, and the club’s promising trajectory. Arsenal had shown interest in Rogers as their top forward target for the season; however, they were unable to match Chelsea’s agreed-upon fee.

Having showcased his skills at Aston Villa, Rogers is recognized as one of the Premier League’s emerging attacking talents. His impressive track record includes contributing to 40 goals in 85 Premier League appearances, aiding Aston Villa in securing a top-four finish and clinching the UEFA Europa League trophy last season. Aston Villa bid farewell to Rogers with warm regards, acknowledging his exemplary conduct and dedication during his tenure.

Since his debut for the senior England team in November 2024, Rogers has become a key player for the Three Lions. With 22 caps to his name, he represented England at the recent FIFA World Cup, where Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel-led side secured a commendable third-place finish, marking England’s best performance since their 1966 World Cup victory.
