Chennai Super Kings’ skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad acknowledged the team’s batting struggle in the middle overs despite a commendable bowling performance, following their 10-run defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 27th match of the Indian Premier League 2026. Gaikwad noted that although Sunrisers had a strong start, CSK managed to limit them to a score below their initial expectations.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, boosted by Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen’s half-centuries, set a target of 195 runs. However, CSK’s bowlers, particularly Jamie Overton and Anshul Kamboj, staged a remarkable comeback in the final overs. Despite a promising start in the chase, CSK faltered at crucial junctures, ultimately falling short by 10 runs and finishing at 184/8. Eshan Malinga’s three wickets stood out for SRH.
Gaikwad highlighted a pivotal phase post the halfway mark as the game-changer, emphasizing the importance of building partnerships. He commended his bowling unit for their consistent performances in recent matches, especially praising Kamboj’s calmness under pressure. CSK now stands at the seventh position in the points table, with their next match against Mumbai Indians scheduled for April 23.
