Chennai Super Kings assistant bowling coach Sridharan Sriram commended spin bowlers Akeal Hosein and Noor Ahmad for their strategic preparation and game awareness, attributing their clear plans to the team’s recent victories in IPL 2026.
Hosein and Noor have emerged as a formidable spin pair for CSK, with Noor claiming 11 wickets and Hosein taking seven wickets. The team, currently at ten points from ten games, aims to enhance its playoff prospects with a win against Lucknow Super Giants.
Sriram highlighted the strong camaraderie between Akeal and Noor, emphasizing their mutual support and tactical readiness against different opponents. He mentioned that while Hosein offers control and variation in pace, Noor had to overcome initial struggles to find his bowling rhythm.
Noor’s improved performance, especially in the middle overs, has been crucial for CSK. With a shift in strategy towards more leg-break deliveries and a focus on line and length, Noor has seen a significant upturn in his form, supported by guidance from MS Dhoni during practice sessions.
Sriram noted Noor’s enhanced consistency in run-up speed, increased spin on the ball, and a higher percentage of leg-spin deliveries as key factors in his resurgence. These adjustments have enabled Noor to target the stumps effectively and contribute significantly to the team’s success.
