Veteran Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara has advised young talent Tilak Varma to show more positivity against spin bowlers in T20 cricket. Pujara emphasized that having intent, not just shot selection, is crucial for success in this format. He suggested that Varma should focus on disrupting the spinner’s rhythm by playing with aggression rather than just rotating the strike.
Pujara, drawing from his own experience, highlighted the significance of recognizing one’s strengths and utilizing them effectively against spin bowling. He recommended that Varma should consider stepping out of the crease and using shots like the sweep or reverse sweep to keep the bowlers on their toes.
The former Indian cricketer also stressed the importance of controlled aggression and tactical awareness, especially when facing spinners in the middle overs of T20 matches. Pujara advised Varma to use his footwork assertively to dominate the bowlers and maintain pressure on them throughout his innings.
