Former Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara has advised teenage talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to remain focused amidst the increasing spotlight on him as he awaits a potential chance in India’s upcoming T20I series against England. Pujara emphasized the importance of preparation and patience for Sooryavanshi’s long-term success, acknowledging the existing stability in India’s top batting order.
Pujara cautioned Sooryavanshi to stay grounded and ignore the hype surrounding him, urging the young player to concentrate on his game without being distracted by external opinions. Despite acknowledging Sooryavanshi’s mental readiness, Pujara highlighted the challenge of securing a spot in the playing XI, especially with India’s established top three batsmen.
The veteran cricketer suggested that Sooryavanshi should maintain a relaxed and composed demeanor if he gets the opportunity to play, advising him not to feel pressured to score heavily but to express himself freely on the field. Pujara also stressed the necessity for thorough preparation to adapt to the English conditions, cautioning that replicating IPL success in England would require diligent acclimatization.
With India commencing their T20I series in England with a settled batting lineup, Sooryavanshi might need to wait for his chance to make his international debut, considering the team’s current composition.
