The Chhattisgarh Assembly is set to commence a crucial five-day Monsoon session from Monday, concluding on July 17. During the session, there will be five sittings, focusing on debates and scrutiny of the BJP government’s performance by the Opposition Congress.
The first four days will emphasize Question Hour and essential government financial matters, allowing legislators to seek detailed responses from Ministers on various administrative issues. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma will introduce a significant Rural Employment Scheme in the State Assembly on the session’s opening day.
Named “Viksit Bharat-Guarantee Mission for Employment and Livelihood (Rural) VB-G RAM G Scheme, Chhattisgarh,” the scheme was officially notified on June 25, 2026, under the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025. The Assembly has received 1,033 questions from members, covering diverse departments, indicating high engagement expected during the proceedings.
The session will conclude on July 17, with the final two-and-a-half hours dedicated to private members’ resolutions and Bills, providing non-government lawmakers a platform to address key issues and propose legislative actions. The Congress plans to challenge the ruling BJP on various concerns, including agricultural distress, availability of seeds and fertilisers, law and order, illegal sand mining, power cuts, smart electricity meter implementation, and the Nakti village bulldozer incident.
Political observers anticipate intense debates as the Congress highlights governance lapses, while the BJP aims to showcase its achievements and defend its policies. The session is crucial as it addresses issues impacting rural livelihoods and urban infrastructure, aligning with public priorities.
