The Chhattisgarh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, has given the green light to a 10% reservation for Agniveer soldiers in direct recruitment for various Class-III positions in state services. This decision is aimed at offering respectable job opportunities to Agniveer soldiers post their four-year service in the Indian Armed Forces. The newly approved Chhattisgarh Agniveer Soldiers (Reservation of Vacancies in Class-III Posts in State Civil Services) Rules, 2026, will ensure this reservation.

Under this new provision, Agniveers who have served for four years and hold a valid discharge certificate will benefit from a 10% reservation in recruitment for roles such as Constables in the Police Department, Forest Guards in the Forest and Climate Change Department, and Warders in the Jail Department. This move comes after Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s announcement in the Legislative Assembly on July 26, 2024, emphasizing the valuable contribution Agniveer soldiers can make to the state police, forest, and jail departments.

In another development during the same Cabinet meeting at Mantralaya, the Council of Ministers has formed a ministerial sub-committee to ensure the timely availability of fertilizers to farmers during the Kharif and Rabi seasons. The Deputy Chief Minister, overseeing Public Works, Public Health Engineering, Urban Administration & Development, will head this sub-committee, with Cabinet Ministers from Agriculture Development & Farmers’ Welfare, Cooperation, and Finance as members, and the Agriculture Production Commissioner as the convener.

This sub-committee will have the responsibility to engage officials, subject experts, and representatives from relevant organizations to provide insights and suggestions on fertilizer supply, distribution, and management. These decisions underscore the state Government’s dedication to bolstering the agricultural sector and supporting the welfare of Agniveer soldiers.
